FreakNation: The New American Order

Greetings from Fun City. Who or what is FreakNation? And what is this ‘mobilization’ of FreakNation? A philosophy? A web site? A cultural movement? It is much more than these, brothers and sisters. Much more indeed. Here’s your simple answer: FreakNation is the great collective of the marginalized. Its mobilization is the most powerful force for Revolutionary change in the history of America. Its promise is that of a Culture Orgy of Epic proportions, so far-reaching and all-incompassing as to be impervious to straight-ass America’s insistence and resistence. It cannot be stopped by INSISTENCE on the maintenance of an effete and self-destructive status-quo, and it cannot be stopped by RESISTANCE to the Will and Actions of a superior sociological and ideological force. That’s the nutshell. Interested? Then listen up. We’re going to discuss the line-up, and the game plan.

First, let’s talk about the linup. FreakNation is inclusive of anyone who has ever felt marginilized, trivialized, or patronized by a system that rejects them. You know who you are. If you have a vision of a better way of life but realize that it is a vision that will never be compatible with ‘The American Way,’ you’re a Freak. You belong with us. Maybe you’ve got a grand idea for a cottage industry through which you’d find fulfillment if not riches, but the mad steamroller of Corporate America will not tolerate your survival in the wake of its insatiable lust to control every last existing dollar upon Planet Earth. Guess what? You’re a Freak. You belong with us. Maybe you believe that the whole tangled web of economic inequality, alienation, estrangement, neurosis, mass hysteria, and FEAR that constitutes ‘The Grand Mirage’—the ILLUSION of Freedom in this country—is one big-assed, bald-faced lie; a fucking CROCK. If you do, you’re a Freak. You belong with us. No matter what your trip, no matter what your dream, or even if you’ve given up the entire notion of dreaming, if you’ve chosen isolation and separation—lost all hope of participation—it’s time to get on board with FreakNation. Join the Revolution. We need you. We need you to exert an influence on your immediate environment. You can’t yet rock THE world, but you can damn sure rock YOUR world if you’re ready. And everything starts from there. EVERYTHING.

Now that we know who we are, what about the game plan? The game plan is admittedly ambitious, but quite straight-forward. It is nothing less than the tranformation of society. What’s involved? We call it The Triple Directive, or The 3-D. Here it is:
1. A complete overhaul of the American government (or overTHROW, if necessary).
2. The eradication of fundamentalism (this is KEY!).
3. The molding of a new vision of culture grounded in freedom of individual choice.
That’s it. Modern America is still, by and large, as it has been since the Great Depression; uptight, inflexible, and mired in provincial social attitudes and regulations that serve only to oppress and inhibit the development of the human spirit. That shit’s got to go. How do we do it? With numbers. Jim Morrison put it well, lo those many years back; ‘They got the guns, but we got the numbers. Gonna win, yeah, we’re takin’ over!’ Problem is, since Jimbo’s day we’ve LOST most of those numbers through atrophy and apathy, and it’s cost us dearly. We let the fundamentalists take control again and now it’s time to put them DOWN once and for all. We do it with numbers. FreakNation is the solution. If everyone who’s already part of the FreakNation Population simply gets it together and turns their frustration into action, we’ve got what we need: MOBILIZATION! Mobilization is the key. With every Freak in this country coming together as one, the job can be done. So, come to Fun City. Join the Revolution.

The Mobilization of FreakNation is our response to the demolition of The American Dream on the part of the Christian Right. The removal of this cancer from our cultural landscape is an absolute necessity if we are to aspire to the creation of a sane society. This brief outline is not the place for a detailed discussion of the methods that will be used to eradicate this plague, but rest assured that Culture Orgy will be covering the topic THOROUGHLY on an ongoing basis. The short answer, however, is that liberal values and the truth they represent must become the educational and sociological norms until the day arrives when superstition and stupidity are no longer considered options among a spiritually evolving populace. This fight goes hand in hand with the educational commitments we must also uphold in bringing an end to the tyranny of corporate corruption that so compromises the well-being of the people. The Progressive Movement has always stood in opposition to these cultural evils as a matter of course, but many of us on the inside cannot escape the clear knowledge that ’standing’ against something is not enough. The problem with Progressives is that they are generally too passive. They are clear about the needs of an authentic society, but they tend to suffer from misplaced idealism. All too often they are long on articulation but short on aggressiveness. Well, it’s like this: the road to Hell is paved with insightful articulations. Aggressive action, Brothers and Sisters, is the ONLY thing that gets it done. Radicals, on the other hand, aren’t afraid of ACTION, they are more naturally aggressive and they aren’t afraid to mix it up. This is why we’re pushing for as many progressives as possible to take that last leap from well-meaning intellectualism to the lofty heights of Radical Activism. We need all of you—the Freaks—those of you who have always felt completely outside the system, typically to such an extent that you’ve chosen isolation over participation. Brothers and Sisters, it’s time to get on board and make a difference! It’s time to join the Revolution.

We need all of you, every Freak, every young person that feels disconnected and disenfranchised. Those of you deciding whether to go to college or join the work force. You have only to look around you to tell which way the wind is blowin.’ All of you who have lost your souls through assimilation and resignation, having finally abandoned your once-prized beliefs and energy to the grim spiritual death of the labor machine. We need you back. You don’t have to quit your jobs. Joining the Revolution will give you a reason to tolerate them, along with a vital message for those around you who are also ready for meaningful change. So, rise up, all ye who have suppressed the lusts that once drove you joyously in the sacred direction of fulfillment and self-actualization. Proudly accept your position in FreakNation and get your own Freak on! This is going to happen. We are going to transform America and create a society of free individuals living together in harmony and living life to the fullest. Our methods are tried and tested: Sex, Love, Intelligence, Education, Fulfillment of the senses, social justice and equality, economic equality, spiritual enlightenment through the magical combination of reason and wonder—in short, a non-stop and total connection with Reality that can only be achieved through the eradication of superstition and stupidity. I urge you to understand our potential, YOUR potential. We are Millions. We are One. We are everywhere. We are every man and every woman. We are every child, so deserving of a world brimming with potential. Open your ears and hear the truth. Open your eyes to the matrix of lies that ensnares your soul.
