What is the true meaning of Salvation?  Is there even such a thing?  In its biblical sense, of course, its first meaning is that of being exempted from exile into Hell at life’s end.  Saved from an eternity in flames, as it were.  It extends further to include a certain realization of a state of inner harmony as well.  But what happens when we remove the antiquated mythology of Heaven and Hell from the equation?  As individuals who understand that there is no literal truth to these concepts, not insofar as they refer to actual localities at any rate, we demand more of any notion of salvation than the simplistic interpretation expounded by the Christian faith.  We recognize it as the realization of ones identity with Absolute Spirit.  This realization comes only rarely, with legitimacy at any rate, to the postmodern individual. His concerns are concrete, he believes, centered upon survival in a world of intense competition for the legal tender.  Contributing to this viewpoint is the fact that technological sophistication has progressed at a rate unimaginable by most even as recently as the 70′s and 80′s.  The rapidity of that progress has changed the world radically, not only outwardly, but inwardly as well.  It may well be said that the inward change has been the more dramatic of the two as man has deified his own created systems to the point at which he worships his perceived potential above all else.

The end result has been the meteoric increase in quick-fix, department store religious conversion, namely, fundamentalist Christianity.  It’s like taking a pill.  Believe in Jesus, lock, stock, and barrel, and life is good.  Nothing left but a few simple details. Like forking over tons of cash to your friendly neighborhood rock-star evangelist.  Salvation?  No problem.  One quick prayer and your very eternity is mapped out for you.  All nice and neat.  Needless to say, this lively little arrangement has become all the rage, and it’s threatening to throw the human race back into the dark ages.  But if this notion of Salvation from Damnation is so obviously without connection to reality, is there some other conception of it that makes sense?  Is there any application to our spiritual lives that justifies the use of the term?

There is.  ’Salvation’ is simply New Testament-Speak for the existentialist concept of ‘Authenticity.’ Certainly there is considerable difference between the meanings we typically associate with these two words.  But in terms of the human condition, they’re headed in the same direction.  We’ve already noted that salvation must entail salvation FROM something, and in this sense we may think of Authenticity loosely as salvation from life in the absence of  higher consciousness.  We can never talk enough about higher consciousness because it is so resistant to verbal description.  Wittgenstein would have us be done with it.  All we can really ever do is to find more creative ways of pointing at it.  Ostensive definitions are all we’ve got.  Metaphor is our most effective communicative tool.  But in a nutshell, it goes like this… Authenticity is the discovery of ones own secret.  There is an idea residing in the structural unconscious of every individual that contains the seed of evolutionary imperative for that individual, and for him/her alone.  To discover that seed and to understand its import is to rise to the level of Authenticity, or Salvation (from a life lived in the absence of higher consciousness).

But how does one go about discovering ones own secret?  The most effective path for Male is the worship of Woman.  In giving himself over to her divine flesh (and the more, the merrier) and divine spiritual power, he will find that access to higher consciousness is not only available for him, but that he is in fact being  pulled irresistibly toward it from the plane of the mundane into the glorious heights of Cosmic Consciousness.  The beautiful woman is literally exploding with this transcendental power, and that is why pornography holds such a rich potential for spiritual transformation, something rarely even thought of in the mundane lives of mundane individuals.  Everything depends on the depth of ones interpretive faculties, which need to be cultivated with utmost diligence if one is going to make any sense whatsoever of the circumstances attending ones existence.  The prescription?

1. Get your asses in gear and do some serious philosophical work in the realm of Metaphysics.
2. Enter into the cyber-realm of your most beloved internet model and live your ultimate fantasies vicariously through her presence.
3.  Pray and Meditate on her image at least twice a day for no less than 20 minutes.

Granted, we all learn this shit in Sunday School, which accounts somewhat for its continued existence within the popular discourse.  The weird part is that in the year 2011 people with college degrees are still sending their kids to Sunday School.  Following along any kind of normative arc of progress in human culture, Sunday School should have gone out with rumble seats.  The fact that it is a powerful force in the interior lives of young children today is more than an anomaly.  It’s a fucking travesty.  Even though most kids would rather be boiled in oil than actually go to Sunday School, the fact remains that they are nonetheless inculcated with a multitude of fatal programming that is extremely difficult to delete later in life.  Kids may hate Sunday School, but sooner or later they end up falling back on its lessons when they find themselves in need of foundational programming.  That programming begins and ends with the notion that God and Gratification are inimical to one another in the extreme.

Enter The Devil.  Ahh, Beelzebub.  But for his promptings, we might all have washed away from Reality Island on crashing waves of puritanical inanity long ago.  The existence of Satan is a necessity.  He keeps us fresh.  He keeps us honest.  Above all, He keeps us grounded in metaphysical truth.  Owing to His presence, we understand the true place of pornography among the necessities of human life.  Without pornography, the average person-especially the average male-has no chance at achieving transcendence from mundane reality.  And while the portals to transcendence exist precisely within mundane reality, it is of the greatest difficulty to discover their presence there.  Mundane reality, while containing the seeds to all forms of renewal, also exists almost entirely within the veils of illusion, Maya, as it is expressed in Hindu and Buddhist philosophy.  Through immersion in pornography one is able to circumvent the spurious character of ones unsolicited foundations.  The human spirit is set free to explore realms that extend far beyond the boundaries of everyday perception.  It is set free to experience the glory of extra-dimensional realities.  This is the power of Sex.  Sex, that is, without concern for procreation.  Sex as the highest act of religious ritual facilitates our elevation to universal awareness, communion with The Absolute, and an attitude of tolerance that is the most profound expression of our communal reality as human beings at this moment and place in space-time.

Well, bro, it’s obvious that you’re simply not getting enough recreation these days. All Work & No Play makes any asshole a dull boy. Solution? Quit your meaningless job today and spend a few afternoons doing this. (see accompanying Fun City Image)  Your existential angst will disappear as if by magic.  That is, as long as you’re not suffocated in the process.  Oh yeah, and never forget that The American Dream has morphed irrevocably into Nightmare.

I have written extensively on the subject of Sex and its relationship to serious philosophy and cultural study, and in more than one essay have proposed the notion that a truly and fully matriarchal order holds the only real hope of an authentic future for humankind. Now, it’s time to elaborate on that thesis and at the same time try to provide a jolt, if possible, a hard slap in the face to awaken those who remain soundly asleep and oblivious to the fact that the state of post-modern society—while looking reasonably functional at a cursory glance—is in fact on the verge of collapse. What is less than evident from the outside looking in is the fragile state of its primary foundations. Those foundations consist of avarice, intolerance, and complete apathy for the concept of civilization itself. Given just a little more time, those failing foundations will crumble and corporate crime will destroy America from the inside like the malignant cancer that it is and that is, of course, providing that the global, homicidal enmity between tribes doesn’t escalate into a real Armageddon (sans the 2nd Coming part, of course) sending us all rocketing, dumbfounded, to Kingdom Come before then. Make no mistake, we’re already hanging on by a thread in the face of both of these scenarios.

Unfortunately, the causes of the world’s deplorable human inter-relations are buried far too deeply within the complex fabric of history to be excavated and repaired. They may well be too badly damaged to be saved even if they could be excavated. What originally stemmed from primal greed, unchecked by thought, progressively became institutionalized in the structures of early clan hierarchies and have now evolved into the tenets upon which the ruthless powers of rampant capitalism and epidemic inhumanity to man are firmly entrenched. And if society is too far gone to be saved, what remains to be done? Well, of course, we’d like to think that nothing can be so far gone that a complete change of attitude and approach can’t make a marked difference in its condition, but it is indeed the dearth of realistic prospects for any such change in the collective heart of mankind that leaves us grasping at straws, and more or less resigned to the sorry fate of capitalistic culture. And what do we do when something is damaged beyond repair? That’s right. We throw it out and start fresh.

So how can we possibly make a fresh start when we’ve already agreed that America is corrupted beyond repair? For openers, we start small, and we start right. We build a perfect subculture based on the right principles. It was the subculture of those who believed in religious freedom and control of their economic lives that founded this country. I have mixed feelings about that. It was a fabulous revolution, done for all the right reasons. Those in the original American colonies, spurred on to independence by such exceptional thinkers as Thomas Paine, had the right humanitarian values, for the most part. Obviously, their ideas of equality for the Black Man hadn’t been worked out, but there was certainly the knowledge at the time of the drafting of our constitution that the issue would have to be addressed. Thomas Jefferson and company, though slave owners themselves, realized and were troubled by the hypocritical aspect of their proclamation that ‘all men are created equal.’ They were, however, willing to work for harmony with the Native Americans, and might have done so successfully had not the inevitable tidal wave of wanna-be’s, with no ethical standards at all, chasing nothing but the lure of an easy fortune, followed like some cosmic nightmare in their wake. What came with the wanna-be’s and gold-mongers of course, was unmitigated avarice and the establishment of an ethic of self-aggrandizement, and a consequent utter disregard for any reasoned altruism. From there, it was only a small step further to the slaughter and displacement of the indigenous tribes in the name of progress, and even worse, in the name of God; an unconscionable display of the very syndrome that is the point of our discussion. America continues today to engage in just such exploitation for profit—at any cost—that has defined every other group of ruthless Visigoths down through history, and it is time we removed ourselves from anything other than our accidental association with it.

I should also say a few words about redefining the true goals of communal living. Human life within a collective has all the potential for being the most extraordinary transcendental experience available to us, but we have squandered that potential through the incorrigible self-centeredness that is part and parcel of any patriarchal order. Women, on the other hand, have a much greater and more instinctive grasp of the concept of human relations, and accordingly, will implement entirely new paradigms of  authentic interactive discourse as a key element of the new sociological mandates. It is only through tolerance and evolutionary authenticity that our human potential can become evident not only to others, but perhaps even more so to ourselves. No matter how well-conceived and ethical a plan for a new world order may be, we have to remember that the entire social edifice remains nothing more than a blueprint until we have learned to value the other’s rights on the same level as our own. This seemingly simple formula for a sane society has remained an utter impossibility for humankind under patriarchy, and it is time we set matters straight.

To sum up this idea of a philosophy that substantiates the call for matriarchal culture, let me just add to the preceding the related notion that this simple blueprint for a progressive society starts with a right understanding of the human condition. Here again, things are in no way overly-complicated. The human condition is simply that of seeking the fulfillment of its potentiality. What fails to find articulation in the cultural message of the day is the fact that this search belongs to each of us alike, and not merely to those in the positions of power or privilege. And so it falls upon us to outline the pathway to a new and progressive society in which ALL MEN & WOMEN are free to follow their dreams and fulfill their destinies as individuals. Greetings from Fun City. In recent posts we have proposed the idea that the human race may well be experiencing the ‘birthpangs’ of a significant step forward in the evolution of our species. But is such a notion remotely tenable given the obvious state of chaos in which we find our world today? What possible evidence could one give in support of the view that humankind is poised for anything but decay and self-destruction at a time when enmity in international relations is at an all-time high, fundamentalist morons of all persuasions are inflicting hatred and death upon ever-increasing numbers of their fellow men, and the world economy is on the verge of total collapse? If we’re using cable news broadcasts to predict the immediate future of Planet Earth, smart money would say we’ll be lucky if we’re still circling the sun in another 15 years. So, what’s with this talk of human evolution at such a dark moment in human history? It all has to do with the possibility of an awakening.

While there is no denying the fact that the political situation in the world is bleak beyond comprehension, we often lose sight of the fact that there are good things happening in other areas of human endeavor. The trick is in nourishing those positive elements into something huge before the politicians succeed in pushing the big red button. The ‘Big Truth’ I’m referring to is the wealth of real intelligence that exists within the cultural underground. Hard as it is to believe at times, there are actually untold scores of individuals in the world whose thinking and awareness have reached heights that far exceed the samplings presented to us by the cultural models. We all know such individuals. The problem? 1. They’re marginalized by the social structure itself. 2. Far too many of them have become apathetic through belief that there is nothing they can do to become agents of meaningful change. (continued…)

Greetings from Fun City. I’m getting wind of some really weird shit that’s going around out there. FreakNation seems to be getting some very nasty press around the community at large. Better than no press at all, I suppose. There are some, it seems, who think my talk of a free society means I’m advocating the creation of a race of mutants; an entire society of irresponsible, unhappy, unproductive, non-communicative serial drug and alcohol addicts whose sole idea of life and livelihood is either dealing drugs or larceny, and who are primed to rape and murder at the slightest provocation. It’s being said that if I had my way, America would lapse into uncontrollable anarchy and chaos and would quickly be taken over by the Chinese. Or the Iranians. OK, so I guess you got me. No, seriously folks. Let’s try to clarify things just a wee bit.

To begin with, I suppose it’s natural that people in the post-drug-culture age equate partying with utter failure and fatal addiction. Fair enough. This is the age of rehab and that’s the rhetoric they’ve been buying into for god knows how long now. Problem is, this whole 12-step mind-set causes my most important point with regard to the party lifestyle to be entirely overlooked. Personal life failures and addiction are predominantly the products of a failed social order. People drink and drug themselves into oblivion for lack of anything better to do, so let’s not get too fucking self-righteous here. Addiction of one form or another is a temptation for all of us. The fact that many succumb to it is more a reflection of the paucity of available alternatives than of innate weakness of character. And for those who are tempted to pass judgement on the so called ‘addict,’ you’ll have to justify your own situation in the process. Are YOU happy? Are you living up to YOUR greatest potential? Are you satisfied with the choices available to you? If you answered ‘yes’ you’re in the extreme minority, and this discussion doesn’t apply to you. But don’t get the idea that trudging off to your meaningless job, trading the hours of your life for someone else’s profit is any better choice than staying home getting drunk or stoned. It ain’t. In fact, you just might be a bigger part of the problem than the drunk or the druggie. You’re probably mired far more deeply in the cultural quicksand than your ‘irresponsible’ counterpart. Chew on that one before your ego does too big a number on you. At any rate, the point here is that whether you plug away as a dutiful drone in the work force or party like your plane’s goin’ down, modern America is still in the throes of death and in need of a miracle transfusion. The concept of Play is fundamental to human development, but is virtually non-existent in the world-view of our day. Modern American culture, defined by the corporate will, the corporate state, and corporate propaganda—all underwritten for the most part by the fundamentalist right—offers up a cultural model that is nothing more than a sham to intelligent individuals. It’s the white-collar conservative sell-out lifestyle that has built an entire nation of neurotic psychopaths who have long ago given up on any consideration of the notion of the ‘meaning of life.’ The cultural model poses the greatest threat to our young people; they always know the truth intuitively, but all too seldom know that they know it. Through the combination of insecurity and the unceasing inculcation of the ‘conformity message,’ most of them will sooner or later fall victim to the lie. By the time they figure out that they had it right in the first place, they’re 45 and will spend the rest of their lives trying to recover what they already knew when they were 17. And what did they know? They knew what it meant to play. To play, is to follow one’s instincts. To play is to follow one’s bliss. To play is to approach life with a determination to make your own choices, not those that are made for you by those who haven’t the slightest understanding of who you are. (continued…)

Greetings from Fun City. OK, so by now you all understand that fundamentalism must be eradicated, extirpated, exterminated, extinguished and annihilated if modern culture is to be saved. In other words, we’ve all got to pull together and manifest Satan’s vision for Planet Earth. If you’ve followed Culture Orgy at all, you know that I advocate the removal of the fundamentalist cancer primarily by a progressive overhaul of the system, that is, through relentless activism, education, political action, etc. Basically a numbers game accomplished gradually but steadily by getting all the intelligent people together until we simply outnumber the morons on a meaningful scale. Now I realize that to even suggest the idea of ‘outnumbering the morons’ sounds like a full-on fantasy to many, but let’s take a moment and follow the line of logic here.

A cursory look at the political situation in America can easily engender a sort of knee-jerk perception that the fundamentalist/conservative/straight-ass contingent in America constitutes a massive base, numbers-wise. They are obviously deeply entrenched in our government agencies and when we think about the notion of kicking the fuckers all to the curb, we are often given pause by the thought that there are too many of them to tackle head-on. Well, yes and no. I definitely agree that when we look upon our world every day it seems clear that the idiots outnumber the at-least-relatively-intelligent by an insurmountable margin. But do they really? Intelligent people inevitably feel they are surrounded by nothing but idiots. When we look at our government, we can only hang our heads and wring our hands in embarrassment at the woeful disasters they have brought to bear on America. And all because there are nothing but War Pigs, Assassins, Thieves and Ass Clowns running the show. But are we really so badly outnumbered? The truth is that this whole conception of Conservative American Culture is, in reality, only its ‘public persona.’ It’s the part we see every day because it’s what’s on TV, on the Internet, and in our newspapers. Before the time of television, black and white and glitter-laden, magic movies arose from south of the border. Boys of all ages drawn moth-like to the drop-dead sights of Mexican girls; Seas of swirling hair, dark, radiant eyes, and lips aflame with passion. Of these exquisite wonders, The One, Lilia Prado, stood alone in wielding her sexual power. Through her, men learned the meaning of weakness, if not with her on screen, then most certainly in worn maroon faux-velvet seats in far-flung star-bursts of theaters where Spanish was spoken. But among this cultural debris came the movies as well, where sex was not-so-subtly stirred into the homogenized blend and the dazzling Mexican girls became swift-known to legions of young Mexican boys. Young boys who learned their sexual lessons fast, thirsting for the microwave radiation of Lilia Prado. Lilia Prado, so obviously proud of her gorgeous legs. They only want to make sure that the tight-rope tensions in the Middle East escalate into full scale war as soon as possible. You know, because Armaggedon must come so all the Jews can be massacred, so that Jesus can come floating down out of a cloud riding on a….yep…a FLYING HORSE!? That’s why your children are dying. So that these morons might one day catch a glimpse of a FLYING HORSE! Well, actually, they wouldn’t see the flying horse because they will already have been snatched out of their Hummers on the freeway and lifted bodily (floating through the air with the greatest of ease) upward into Heaven. (I wonder if that’s farther than Pluto. As far as Alpha Centauri? Hmmm.) THEN, Jesus comes on the flying horse to slaughter the Jews. Don’t laugh. It’s too sick to laugh at. Besides, you know it’s true. And if you don’t believe it, simply ask a fundamentalist.

Soldiers interviewed today were quoted as saying the numbers were ‘too hard to grasp.’ Indeed they are. Hey, Dick Cheney! America’s sons and daughters are being slaughtered in the name of Haliburton. Two-thirds of Americans say they think you’re fulla shit now! “So?” That was your reply. Saw it m’self on the Tee-Vee. “So?” Oh yeah, and there was that Cheshire grin, the smirk of the seasoned extortionist thug, the smug, barely-restrained cackle of the War Pig. We all saw it. We saw that it doesn’t mean shit to a sub-human slime-ball like you. And yet, there they are. There they remain; The fundamentalist faction that brought the world to the brink of a chaos no brand of diplomacy may ever be able to unravel. Nothing has changed. If they could vote Bush/Cheney again, they would! Some of them have lost loved ones as well. “So?” What do they care? Just more lost souls in a Fool’s Paradise. What does it matter? Jeezus is coming soon! So come on, Georgie! Come on, Dickie! Blow up the planet before the Democrats come and ruin everything! Sad to say, but we’ve still got 9 months in 2008. It could easily happen. All we can hope now is that Satan exacts his revenge upon you all.
