The Beliefs of FreakNation

• A successful social order must be dedicated to freedom of individual expression.
• That life is a celebration and must be conceived as such in order to ensure sanity in politics and government.
• That responsible members of society may well party hard, but they also know how to work hard.
• That a society should be made up of such responsible members.
• In a society conducive to mental health, citizens work more by choice than by cohersion. Healthy work attitudes reflect the optimal conditions of a social structure.
• That Sex and Erotica are vital elements of emotional and spiritual well-being and that the subjects should be studied thoroughly so as to bring to an end the puritanical sexual repression that is still prevalent in our culture.
• That all forms of fundamentalist religion must be abolished and that a true spirituality based upon Sex, Reason, and Wonder should be encouraged.
• That the realm of The Erotic is the seat of Religion and Wisdom.
• That a majority of our society live Thoreau’s ‘Lives of Quiet Desperation’ and that this need not be so. It is the social structure in which they live that breeds this kind of mind-killing oppression.
• That if all facets of our social order were designed and implemented in accordance with the above principles, a Utopian order would result, and a new paradigm in human evolution would appear on Planet Earth.

This list is a first draft of The Beliefs of FreakNation. It is basically a jumping-off point. Over the next few weeks I’ll be revising and expanding upon these basic tenets. Soon FreakNation will have a philosophy grounded in deeper thought that will address in detail the social and spiritual issues that concern us.
